Death Valley Trip

I’m heading off to Death Valley in just under two weeks. It will be a 3-Day, 2-night trip. I have been looking forward to this trip for some time and it just occurred to me that it’s coming up rapidly.

I have a set of tire deflators already but I needed a way to get air back into my tires so I ordered a ViAir 400p compressor off of Amazon along with a nice tire gauge and a tow strap.

I need to test my SPOT and iPad setup for navigation though it’s probably too late to make any changes to the setup. I have tested the SPOT on the Harley but I yet to Blue Tooth it to the iPad to feed it GPS coordinates.

CB Arrived

My CB arrived tonight. I started by mounting the antenna only at this point. Currently the antenna is mounted behind the spare tire using a TeraFlex mount. I want to make sure that I like the placement before I start running the antenna wire under the carpet as I may go with another mount if I don’t like it.

CB Ordered

Ordered my CB tonight for the Jeep. Ordered a nice kit from RightChannelRadios.com that included the antenna and an SWR meter.

ACE Rock Sliders Installed

My ACE Rock Rails arrived last Friday and I installed them on Sunday. It was a short 2-Beer project and I got to use my motorcycle lift. 🙂 The rails are nearly 50 pounds each and used my motorcycle lift to raise them into position so that I could mount them by myself. Pictures to follow.

Off with the Chrome

Off with the chrome and on with the black. Removed my chrome Jeep emblem on the front grill and replaced it with a black version.

Let the mods begin

I have read that the Rubicon wheels are a popular item for thieves to steal and especially the spare on the back of the Jeep that is only bolted on by three lug nuts. I ordered a set of Gorilla locking lug nuts that basically turn each lug nut into a locking lug. I decided to order them in black to match my “no chrome” theme.

I also ordered today a black Jeep emblem that goes on the front grill to replace the current chrome one.
